Before you hit the slopes: the risks and the cover

Beldersay isn't just one of the three resorts near Tashkent: it's the country's main freeride spot, where the national freeride team trains. Amirsoy is 65 km away, Chimgan and Beldersay about 80. The season usually runs from late December to March, sometimes longer at Beldersay.

When you fall on a board, your hands take the impact first, which makes them the main area of risk in snowboarding. Almost half of snowboarding injuries (49%) are fractures, and 79% of those affect the upper limbs, most often the wrist and forearm. Under the policy terms, snowboarding is in risk group 5, and a one-year policy costs from UZS 150,000.

    Amirsoy resort rules

Under Amirsoy's rules, helmets and protective gear are mandatory for children, and a helmet is mandatory for everyone in lessons with a resort instructor. Adults riding on their own are advised to wear one. The resort doesn't patrol off-piste areas, where avalanches are possible. Visitors take that risk themselves. Tourist police and an ambulance are on site throughout the season.

At Chimgan and Beldersay, check the rules on site; the general reference for any slope is the FIS White Code, ten rules of conduct on the piste.

    What the policy covers

An injury on the slope shouldn't leave you scrambling to pay for treatment. The athlete accident policy pays out, so you can focus on recovery, not costs.

    Payout for injury

A wrist or forearm fracture, a concussion, a sprain: if it's recognized as an insured event, you receive a payout. Its amount depends on the nature of the injury and the sum insured you chose.

    You choose the sum insured

The sum insured ranges from UZS 10 to 50 million, and the higher it is, the larger the payout for the same injury. Total payouts for the year never exceed the sum you chose.

    One policy for a year

The policy runs for a full year: enough for the whole season and your next trip to the mountains, with no need to buy a new one for every visit.

    In the most serious cases

Disability after an accident Group I: 100%, Group II: 80%, Group III: 60% of the sum insured
Support for your family 100% of the sum insured goes to your family: your legal heirs

Snowboarding is risk group 5, along with football, boxing and other mass-participation sports. Read more about the group on the Mainstream Sports Insurance page.
