What documents do you need to enter?

The rules below were checked on 8 October 2026. Before departure, check the latest rules and any requirements of countries you transit through.

    Visa on arrival

Tourist visas are issued on arrival. Bring a machine-readable passport valid for at least one month and a confirmed onward or return ticket. You also need a confirmed prepaid booking at registered accommodation and sufficient funds for your stay; alternatively, sponsorship approved by Maldives Immigration. Immigration officers decide whether to admit you.

    IMUGA declaration

Before arrival, complete the free traveller declaration on the official IMUGA portal within 96 hours of arrival. The separate departure declaration was abolished in 2024.

Maldives Immigration does not list medical insurance as a mandatory entry document in its published requirements. A policy can help you get care for unexpected illness or injury. Which plan covers the Maldives?

Under the offer’s territory terms, ELITE and EXCLUSIVE cover the Maldives. The figures below are maximum cover limits by plan and benefit, not policy prices.

Medical care up to €35,000 up to €45,000

The price depends on trip length, age, purpose and planned activities. Cover for sports risks requires the “sports/active tourism” option and a higher rate recorded in the policy; terms depend on the activity. Learn more about active travel.
