    How does travel insurance work?

Six steps, from buying a policy to getting help. Check when cover starts and how to contact the service team before you fly.

    1

    Choose your trip

Enter Indonesia, your travel dates, trip purpose and plan. Check the coverage territory and optional extras.

    2

    Check when cover starts

Your policy applies on the specified dates after payment. If you buy it while already abroad, cover starts at 00:00 on the fourth day after purchase.

    3

    Contact the assistance service

If you fall ill or get injured, call the service number on your policy as soon as possible.

    4

    Follow their directions

Tell the team where you are and describe your symptoms. They will explain where to get care.

    5

    Keep your documents

If you seek care independently, keep medical records, prescriptions and receipts for a reimbursement review.

    6

    Submit a claim

Submit your documents according to the policy rules. Events before cover begins are not covered.

    Important points about your cover:

    • Call the service team before visiting a clinic if circumstances allow; otherwise, call as soon as you can. Read more about when cover starts.
    • Keep receipts, medical reports and prescriptions in case you need to claim reimbursement.
    • Keep your policy number and assistance phone number handy.
    • For active tourism, select the relevant option in advance and check its terms.

Travel insurance for Indonesia and Bali

Bali is an Indonesian island, so select “Indonesia” as the country on your policy. In Bali, you can visit the Ubud rice terraces, Kuta beaches and Tanah Lot temple. Nusa Penida is a separate island nearby.

The policy is designed for emergency care after sudden illness or injury on the stated dates and in the stated territory. Your plan sets the limits; routine examinations and planned treatment are excluded.

Before you travel, check the dates and territory in your travel insurance policy. Medical transport and repatriation — return home for medical reasons — are subject to the policy terms and separate limits.

Why get travel medical insurance for Bali?

The policy helps arrange emergency care for sudden illness or injury under your chosen plan. The total insured amount and medical services limit are different.

    Limits for the four plans:

    • ECONOM €20 000 total · €7 000 medical · no COVID-19 cover
    • CLASSIC €45 000 total · €18 000 medical · COVID-19 up to €5 000
    • ELITE €60 000 total · €35 000 medical · COVID-19 up to €20 000
    • EXCLUSIVE €90 000 total · €45 000 medical · COVID-19 up to €25 000

Medical benefits and individual risks have their own limits in the offer. ECONOM does not cover COVID-19; planned treatment and routine check-ups are excluded.

How do you choose a plan for Indonesia?

Compare the limits with your travel plans and check the extra terms before paying:

    • Territory: Indonesia must be listed on the policy.
    • Medical limit: do not confuse it with the total insured amount.
    • COVID-19: CLASSIC, ELITE and EXCLUSIVE include it up to separate limits; ECONOM does not.
    • Scooters and mopeds: you need the paid “sport/active tourism” optionlisted on your policy, a valid licence and compliance with local rules.
    • Surfing and diving: ask the insurer in writing whether your specific activity is covered before you travel.

Calculate the price for a week-long trip using your own dates, plan and activities. There is no single rate for every trip.

    Practical tips

    • Bali is generally drier from around April to October and wetter from around November to March; the season boundaries vary.

    • Bring mosquito repellent and clothing that covers your skin.

    • Seek medical help for worrying symptoms rather than diagnosing yourself.

    • Follow dress and access rules at active temples, including Tanah Lot.

    • Pay attention to tides and local guidance on the coast.

    • Save the assistance number where you can find it offline.

    • Select Indonesia in the calculator and check the policy terms before paying.

What should you do if you need to use your policy in Indonesia?

The service number is on your policy. Save it somewhere you can access offline.

    1

    Call the service team

Call the 24-hour service team at the number on your policy as soon as possible. If you cannot call before seeing a doctor, call at the first opportunity.

    2

    Explain what happened

Give your policy number, location and symptoms. Follow the assistance team’s directions for arranging care.

    3

    Keep your documents

If you had to arrange care yourself, collect medical reports and receipts. Expenses are reviewed for reimbursement under the policy terms and limits.
